Come and enjoy the company of fellow hosta enthusiasts as we dine on an excellent meal planned by Dianna Vasquez and prepared by the staff at Heatherdowns Country Club.
The gathering will begin at 11:30 and lunch will be served at 12:30.
Our guest speaker is Doug Beilstein, who won the 2017 Eunice Fisher Distinguished Hybridizer Merit Award. Doug served as President of the American Hosta Society from 2011 – 2013.
Doug’s program is titled “Reds-They’re Coming”. Beilstein first noticed hostas more than 18 years ago. Since then, he has invested in thousands of hostas and, more recently, to devote his efforts to hybridizing them. To date, Doug has registered 69 hostas with the American Hosta Society.
In 2003, Doug and Mardy Beilstein started HostaWorks in order to share the fruits of their labors with other hosta enthusiasts. Their website, www.hostaworks.com, opened for business in Fall 2007. For now, they just offer seeds for sale once a year, in November.
